Julieta Venegas concert

OK, this is a bit late... but I went to see Julieta Venegas (VH1 Review), a well respected Latin pop singer, last Sunday night. Julieta is a very talented artist who can play piano, guitar, and accordian. She also have been nominated several times for Latin Grammy's and was featured in the award winning movie Motorcycle Diary.

I went with Roberto, one of my roommates. The event was a City Limits (Tucson), a small music/bar venueon the east side of the city. It was a fun outing, especially when the crowd make you "feel like [you are] in Mexico" as Roberto said. Julieta put up an energetic show, going almost non-stop from song to song.

The only down side was that the tickets were $31/person (the beer was $4 each!) and the show was only 1.5 hrs long. Still, it was a good time and certainly a culture experience.

One week away from my big event

It's one week away from my biggest triathlon event; I am doing a half-ironman race next Sunday. Half-Ironman distance is: 1.2 mile swim (2,111 yrs or 84.5 lengths in 25 yrd pool) , 56 mile bike, then 13.1 mile run. It's probably going to take me 6:15 to 6:40 hours to complete. I know it sounds nuts, but I have been training for a while and I am just trying to finish so it shouldn't be too bad. In addition, it's a sold-out event so I am not the only crazy one around. Still, I am a bit scared but also excited about it.

The event is in Tempe, AZ (Phoenix Metro). If you want to check out more info about the event, go to: http://www.redrockco.com/HalfIronmanAZ.htm. I actually did the quarter-ironman (half of the half-iron) last year so I know the course because the half-iron is just double loop on everything, except for the swim.

Wish me luck :)
